The Beautiful Rosedell Bed & Breakfast in Yakima, WA

Rosedell Bed & Breakfast

Rosedell Bed & Breakfast

Last weekend I went to the open house of one of Yakima’s most beautiful homes, recently turned into a bed and breakfast, Rosedell Bed and Breakfast now owned by Paul and Holli Radke.

Rosedell, also known as the Larson Mansion, was completed in 1909 by A.E. Larson, and named for his wife Rose.  Rosedell mansion was built for $50,000.   It was built from quarried sandstone from Rimrock and boasts beautiful hardwood floors with a different and unique inlay border in each room.   At 9,600 square feet, this home has spacious rooms with a regal atmosphere.

The entrance features an unglazed Italian marble fireplace, stone columns and hand-painted wall trim.  To the right, the living room contains fluted columns, parquet floors of oak, maple, pecan and mahogany, twelve foot ceilings with original hand-painted borders and provides window seating within the rounded turret of the room.

The kitchen, originally in the basement, was moved to the main floor in the 1920′s.  The icebox is original and is still used.  The dining room was added when the the kitchen was moved to the main floor and has seating for 20.

The library was part of a 1934 addition, dancing cherubs are pictured on the tiles of the fireplace.

Upstairs are 4 bedrooms and three bathrooms.  Private decks overlook the parklike grounds.  To see more pictures of the rooms go to www.rosedellbb.com.  The original coachhouse in in the back.  The servant quarters were upstairs with the lower floor for horses and buggies.

Rosedell is located near historic downtown Yakima, Washington.  It is situated on one and a half acres of park like grounds with more than 30 mature trees…at one time one from each state, and offers luxurious accomodations for any occasion.

Rosedell is at the entrance to the Historic Homes of Yakima.  It’s just minutes away from community attractions like the Capitol Theatre and the Yakima Valley Museum.  It’s also within blocks of fine dining, hospitals, and several wine-tasting rooms.
